Our Process
for Wedding Dress Alterations
Step 1
First Consultation
We recommend to begin your alterations 3-8 months before the date of your wedding. Your first consultation with us is free of charge! We will evaluate all that needs to be done and give you a quote at the end of your appointment. A 50% deposit will be required on this day.
Step 3
Bustle School Practice
Three weeks before your wedding we will schedule your Bustle School Practice. This is when you bring your bridal party (typically bridesmaids and moms) to learn how to bustle your dress for the day of the wedding. This is a step-by-step process that we will teach your party and practice it to ensure it goes smoothly for the big day.
Step 2
Second & Third Fitting
After your first visit, we will schedule your next fitting and any additional fittings afterward. The amount of fittings will depend on the intricacy of your dress and how much custom work we will be doing. Wedding dress alterations are a process and takes many hours and work to turn the dress into your dress.
Step 4
Pressing & Pick-up
FINALLY, it's time for pick-up! All alteration details will be completed and your dress and veil will be pressed, ready to go. Nervous about how to transport your wedding dress and avoid wrinkles? No worries! We will give you instructions on how to transport and care for it when you arrive at your venue. We are here for all the support you may need for your big day!

Behind the Scenes
Bustle School Practice
Creating and pinning the right bustle is an art. Every dress is uniquely different and requires a unique bustle. With our eye for design and expertise, we evaluate what kind of bustle will work best and look best with the design of your dress. We want you to be able to dance and have fun without worrying about stepping on your dress or having to hold it the entire reception. Talk about a drag!

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the appointment be?
All apointments are scheduled for 1 hour. Your first appointment will typically take the full hour but other fittings may be shorter. Plan to be here for an hour, just in case!
What do I need to bring
to my appointment?
For your first consultation, you need to bring your wedding dress, skin-tone undergarments, shoes (or same heel length), veil and accessories, a support system, and a credit card or cash for the 50% deposit. You can store your shoes and veil in our shop if you wish as well.
How much will my
alterations cost?
Because every gown and body type differs, we need to see the dress in person first. We only charge for the work that needs to be done and not a flat rate. At your first consultation, we will evaluate all that needs to be done and give you a total quote.
Am I able to bring along my friends or family?
Yes, of course! We suggest to only bring 2-3 guests with you. We find that having a lot of voices and opinions in the room can cloud your own feelings. And the bride's feelings should always be the most important in the room!
